ARKANSAS AIR MUSEUM

Today was spent at the Arkansas Air Museum in Fayetteville with the Girl Scouts. Our local council set up a tour for the Junior Girl troops. We toured the Air Museum and the Ozark Military Museum. We had great tour guides at both places. We ate lunch outside while we watched a gilzillion planes come in for the Razorback game. I couldn't imagine that many people flew into Fayetteville to watch the games. We even got to see Jerry Jones Dallas Cowboys plane land and the Goodyear blimp take off to go to the game.

On to our tour.

This the shell of one of the old planes. Planes are made with lots of rectangles and triangles which gives the strength. The wings on this one is actually made of wood.

Lear Jet. Really cool, used by Bobby Younkin for air shows.

A bi plane, was used for teaching pilots how to fly. One cool thing we learned is that these planes were covered in really heavy duty fabric, not metal or aluminum. I would never have thought that! So cool.

This is Sam Walton's first plane that he flew himself. He would fly really low over his stores so he could count how many cars were in the parking lot. The tour guide said he scared alot of people because he was flying so low.

Coco and M in the lear jet. They loved this.

Miss Pam in the Lear Jet. As a GS Leader you gotta do what they do.

This was a ambulance from the 40's that was in the Ozark Military Museum at Drake Field.

All this stuff is what a soldier had to carry on himself during WWII. Can you imagine.

Lunch outside on the runway. While we were eating a larger plane that would probably carry 15- 20 people came in. Y'all 2 people got out of that plane and 2 pilots. They walked over to our area to ask the curator if they could go thru the museum to meet their friends because it was a long walk to the terminal. The woman was wearing like 6 inch heels with diamonds glaring to go to a football game. We found out that they were attorney's from Dallas. My Daddy would have said "More money than sense". The high heels cracked us up because we were thinking if she couldn't walk to the terminal then how was she going to walk all the way into the stadium because no matter where you get to park there is going to be a walk and most likely uphill.

The Blimp leaving. We got quite a lesson on how that works too. It has to be tethered to a pole while on the ground and it takes 3 guys on each side to hold it down until it is ready to go. Takes a village to work that contraption.

Our troop
Only 4 of our girls got to go since several cheer for football games on Saturday. We missed them but will be bringing some fun crafts that we got to do to the troop meetings soon.
I can't believe I have lived here all my life and this is the first time I went to this. I would totally recommend taking your kiddos if your local. We had a fabulous time and 2 of my girls now say they want to be pilots. Wouldn't that be awesome if they did and could look back on today as their inspiration.
Yep that is why I love Girl Scouts.

Coming soon more Cocoisms. We had a really fun day just hanging out together.

BIRTHDAY BOY

My nephew had a birthday on Saturday. He turned the big 25! His bike number was representing well last night. He races motorcross. He asked us all to come to the race track for his birthday so we drove to Dora, Oklahoma to support him and be with him on his birthday.

His bike he won in a race this year. The number worked well for his 25th birthday

Getting geared up for his 1st race.

Don't you just love his polka dots! I asked him why he didn't get hot pink polka dots, he didn't really have an answer! It sure made it easier to pick him out from the other racers. The other guy is his friend Randy. I got mad at him in the first race because Dallas was in 1st place until Randy plowed into him and he was cut back to 4th place. His rear wheel ended up with a broken spoke. I got over it by the 2nd race, Dallas was able to cut Randy off on a turn and Dallas ended up winning 1st place for the night. YEA GO DALLAS

This is what the call a table top jump. a flat longer grade. I didn't have my Canon so these were shot with my little point and shoot.

This was on the first race when Randy was in the lead.

It was a lot of fun watching them. There were 4 wheeler races, pee wee, and then different classes for the older groups. I loved watching the little ones on these teeny tiny bikes. They were giving it all they had. Unfortunetly we got ATE up by mosquitos, they were horrible. We all put on bug spray but I think that just made them mad! We had a long ride home and didn't get home until 12:30am after the 2 hour drive up 540 watching for the deer to pop out.
We had a great time!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DALLAS
I remember 25 years ago very clearly. It was the first time I had seen a real newborn baby right after birth. I remember telling my Momma that we should see if the doctor would put him back. In my defense I was only 17 years old and he had been in the birth canal for 4 days while my sister labored. I used to be the "COOL" Aunt but that changed as I had my own child and his wants became more outlandish than just getting highlights in his hair. We spent many a New Years Eve's together when I was single.  I taught him how to tie his shoes and blow bubbles with his gum. He will always be my boy and I will always be his "Pam". He would argue with people at 2 years old that I was "HIS PAM"!
Great memories!

COCO ISMS

A recent conversation in the car with Coco. I think we were talking about college plans for some odd reason!! I am always encouraging her to work towards those scholarships so Mama can have the college fund for a Mustang fund :0

Coco: I am gonna go to college and get a degree but I want to be a roller skating waitress so if I get layed off then I will have the college degree to fall back on.

Me: Laughter

Me: Honey I hope you use your degree and then think about falling back on the roller skating waitress job.

She is a deep thinker!! Couldn't love her more!

NOAH'S ARK

Today we went to Branson, MO to meet some friends to watch Noah's Ark at the Sight and Sound Theater. I think it the best show I have seen in Branson. The technology used was fantastic. There were several live animals used and even though it was a fictional story it was bible based. They added in some scenes that are not from the bible but it helped to bring you back to that time in history. Can you imagine a man decides to build this vessel 45 feet high, 75 feet wide and 450feet long when there has never been a drop of rain. He and his family had great faith! In the show they actually showed them building and then there were scenes where Noah's family was in the ark after the earth was flooded and what it might have been like. I sure wish we could have taken pictures of the 4 floors with little cubby type areas where they had 2 of each animal and then places for storage , sleeping quarters, family eating areas, etc.

This is a show I would recommend time and again. They also have a Christmas show that we hope to go see this holiday season. I think it will be more the birth of Jesus and after seeing how they do Noah, then Jesus birth will be extraordinary!

Has anyone else been to see it?

A BETTER DAY

Today was a better day.

Thanks Jen, Rhonda, and Sue for your encouraging comments.

The girl must have gotten a good nights sleep too because she was much nicer. She even offered to get me a drink when she went out today. It could also be that our boss had a meeting this morning about attitudes and respect for each other.

Either way I am glad it was a good day.

Only 2 more work days and then we are going to Branson to see Noah's Ark with friends. Looking forward to that.

Off to bed early again tonight. We have to be up early to get Coco all beautifule for school photos tomorrow. It seems they do this earlier every year.

Night all

A REALLY BAD DAY

Why are some people just MEAN spirited?

I have had a HORRIBLE day!

I was asked to train someone at work and this person apparently does not want to be trained. At least by me. Everything I would say she knew how to do or she would answer questions with one word answers. I tried to ask questions to get to know her but it was like pulling teeth. This was all while she sat across my desk with her arms crossed over her chest. You know that sign language!!!!

I have been at this job for 12 weeks and this person has never spoken to me. I have said good morning, Hi, How are you? etc several times and she just ignores me. We have never met before so how can she dislike me? She doesn't even know me!!!

BUT SHE DOESN'T LIKE ME AND I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!! Well, I know why as of today but that doesn't excuse the past 11 weeks. Seriously she has been rude since the 1st day I walked in to the bank. She is being demoted and I am taking her position so I can understand her frustrations but I didn't make the decision. Like I said that is not the reason she has been so rude since the day I walked in!

I do not care if she likes me but I am flabbergasted as to why. I have been told she is just like this.

How sad is that!!! I have my days when I let my attitude get the better of me but even then I STILL USE MY MANNERS!  What is really sad is that there are several people I work with that have a sour attitude. This makes for a very long day sometimes and today was one of them.

I get home and Coco had a bad day too. She was last on the batting order. Poor thing is just starting to see the unfairness of life. This situation is not necessarily unfair but it was to her. She has also been dealing with a girl at school that most of time acts like her best friend but then she will do silly little things to hurt Coco's feelings. Like the other day she made a list of her BEST FRIENDS, she put Coco at the bottom. But then she calls her to invite her to come spend the night. I don't know how involved I should get so I just try to down play it and encourage Coco to take the high road. I really wish she didn't have to go through these times but it is what it is.

I did tell her tonight that we both needed a good nights sleep so that if tomorrow was a repeat of today then at least we would be well rested and better able to deal with those people!! So I am hitting the bed early!

Goodnight all and say a prayer for me that tomorrow will be a better day! I'll have my big girl pants on!!!!
