BEEN A LONG TIME

I have let my little blog go to the dump. I have been super duper busy. Coco is now on a travel softball team so we spend lots of time at the ball fields. Tonite was a 3 hour practice with another on Thursday. Getting ready for our last (I hope) tournament this weekend and it is local. Yee haw I love watching her play and she has really upped her game this year but this Momma is TIRED!!!

I started a new job a couple of weeks ago. Same line of work but in management. Luckily the person I am replacing is staying on a couple of months to train me and make it a smooth transition. I will admit it has been different. I am used to being super busy 8-10 hours each day and these past few weeks have been really long 8 hours. I know that will change when it is just me doing the job. Grateful for the position though.

We spent today saying goodbye to a good friend. A man that was like a 2nd father to Scott passed away and the services were today. It was a beautiful service but different than what I have been to before. The wife spoke and said such loving words about their life together. Several other people spoke about how he had touched their lives. He will be greatly missed but definitely left a legacy.

8th GRADER IN THE HOUSE

Coco started 8th grade last week. She loves it.
She already has her favorite classes which change daily,
kind of like her moods.
She has a pretty heavy schedule with sports, scouts and family.
Hardly leaves time to relax!!
I am ok with that you know "with idle minds" hey we will keep her busy busy

I also have my favorite high schooler graduating this year.
JAKE

I had the honor of taking some Senior pictures for him last weekend.
he is so handsome and sweet. I look forward to seeing where God takes him in the future.

Destin Part 2

Tues-
first thing went to the beach for a couple of hours
My first trip into the ocean I was making my way out to where scott and Coco were and a huge wave hit me, knocked me down my hat went flying to shore, luckily I grabbed by sunglasses found my bearings while everyone around had a good laugh.

we came back to the house and swam for a few hours
took a nap
went to the Outlet Mall, I didn't buy anything. Just not in the shopping mood this year (unusual for me).
Dawn n Shawn made dinner. Meatloaf, new potato's, salad delicious.
went to the beach
swimming before bed

wed- up at 515 to take Scott to the harbor so he could go fishing.
came back and slept until about 9,
took Coco ou. t shopping. ate at Taco Bell
scott was late coming in so we walked around Destin Harbor
met him at the boat slip so I could take pictures of the catch.
brought him home exhausted and we all 3 took a nap.

went to walmart to get stuff to cook the red snapper he caught. it was our night to make dinner. it turned out really good.

went to Barnes n Noble to look around

got a couple of books
My Summer of Southern Discomfort and

Marble Slab creamery is right next door so we had ice cream. $15 for a small waffle cone and a waffle bowl....

swimming again before  bed.

Some of our family photos we took at the beach very early one morning. Love using the remote control for my camera, makes doing this easier but need more practice.

Destin 2013 Part 1

Friday -
left home at 3:30pm
drove to Grenada Miss
stayed at Holiday Inn Express
we get in the elevator and
coco looks at the panel of buttons
and exclaims "We can go sideways?"
She was looking at the open/close door buttons
I really think she was serious!! She has been on
elevators hundreds of times

Sat-
left Grenada at 7:05
Got to just outside Mobile, AL and hit bumper to bumper traffic all the way through the tunnel in Mobile.
We got to the house about 4pm.
Before anything was done Coco and Scott were in the pool
unloaded the car and Nana/Papa
got us pizza

Sun- Rain Rain Rain all the live long day. We didn't get out to do anything

Mon- Rain Rain Rain again- we did go out to the mall in Mary Esther but the rain really dampened our spirits since we couldn't be on the beach or in the pool.
ate at Mexican place that was delicious.
Celebrated Coco's upcoming 13th birthday
Scott and Coco got in the pool late that evening.

It has been 10 years since we first went to Destin and rented this house. We went that first time to celebrate Scott's parents 40th wedding anniversary. We have been back many times since and this year was in celebration their 50th anniversary. Coco was 3 the first time and I will be uploading some photos from then and now. Wow have we all grown so much and not all in a good way LOL...

TIME GOES BY TOO FAST

I now have a 8th grader in the house.

This year has been fast and furious!

Coco has grown so much in the past 10 months. She is not my little girl any more.  We are still really close but I feel it changing as I have to be the parent and guide and discipline, while she is stretching her wings as she is growing and maturing. To be quite honest not in every way that I had hoped. Maturity has different meanings for me than for her! We are both having to learn and grow as this new relationship grows. What scares me is that I only have this one chance.

We have struggled in school for the first time and not because she had a hard time grasping the concepts. She had a hard time grasping the need to do her best. She ended the year with 1 A and the rest B's but I know she could have all A's. Too much time worrying about what friends were doing. To much time worrying about what the boys were doing.

When I was 12 going into 8th grade I was still playing with Barbies and Babies. There are no Barbies or babies, they have been replaced with Ipod's, Instagram, FB , school dances and boys, boys, boys! It is not just her, all of her friends are the same way.  They seem to have this fascination with body parts, not the actual parts just the names of them. Is this normal? I sure don't know but my friends that teach this age group say it is. She also told me they seem to grow out of it in the 8-9th grades. She no longer has any social media as she lost those privileges a few weeks ago. I found some words that were not in allowed being used and I deleted it all. What is scary is that it doesn't seem to bother her.

I pray these next few months I will be the person she is with the most and I can influence her more so than friends do. I have a new bible study and 8 great dates with my daughter that I plan to work thru with her. I covet your prayers for us to grow and mature in a Godly way before another school year comes and those influences become most important.

Any tips for a new TEEN mom??
Would love to hear them!!

SATURDAY

saturday started out just perfectly

sleeping in past 8am

nothing but time on our hands

i used that time wisely

i watched pioneer woman and trisha on food network

i love both those shows

then i don't even remember what i watched

took a nap about 11 to 1

got up started watching lifetime

until the very last minute that i had to shower

and drive to work our shift at the girl scout cookie booth

at our local harley davidson shop

that was interesting to watch the harley clientele come and go

entertaining and the friendliest people eveh

coco and i left there, went to ross for a little shopping fix

we both found the cutest rugs we wanted

a cute blouse, leggings, hair accessories

we got in line to check out

it was going to be sunday before we got to the end of that line

so we left our cart and went to zaxbys

sure hope they have those rugs when i go back during the week

when it is slower and i feel bad for that worker that has to put it

all away, then again they should have more people working on a

saturday evening.

we did find some really cute summer things for our destin trip

this summer.

i just have to get BUSY on this weightloss

that is a bad word this week.  all i do is gain and lose the same

3 pounds every stinking week

i know what the problem is  i just don't want to do the work

then we came home and need to separate girl scout cookies

so we can drive all over the country spending $4 dollar gas to

deliver them tomorrow.......................

cheers my friends
