This all happened with him on the couch and Coco in her room...

Maybe I should make a no tech rule in the house, but then I would miss this little connection between the two! Daddy loves to aggrevate her.

TO MUCH TECHNOLOGY

You are probably wondering what in the world these 3 photos have to do with anything!

I do have a point to make.

Tonight we were invited to a Girl Scout Cookie Celebration Dinner.

One of things we did was play Pictionary. It was the Mom's against the Girls.

My daughter got the object answering machine as her word to draw.

She tried drawing the 8 ball toy that you ask questions and roll it and it shows an answer in a little window.

I laughed so hard because she didn't know what a actual answering machine is. Of course it is not her fault because we don't have one anymore since it comes on the telephone now. (I wish we still had the machine, it was much easier to push a button instead of dialing our number and putting in a code).

I was just shocked at what the girls knew and didn't know playing this game. Technology is a wonderful thing but so many things I enjoyed as a child are no longer used. one of my favorite memories is singing into a curling iron. My sister and I actually used this garden stake that my Daddy had made for staking tomatoes. We bent that thing like it was a real microphone and sang our hearts out.

Now they have every instrument known available for every gaming system known. There is no reason to use their imaginations anymore.

Makes me kind of sad.

BACK TO SCHOOL

We have survived the first 2 days of school. Coco was so ready to back. Mostly just to see her friends. She has met most of her teachers so far and her favorite is her Math teacher Mr. Johnson. He told the class his life story of biking from Cali to Florida and hiking from Maine to Georgia. Sounds interesting.

The official school supply photo. You will notice that GLUE  is missing. Another moment of growing up, when your child grows out of glue. She also only gets one recess period at school and she hasn't even complained!

I made this chalkboard in a rush the night before the 1st day of school but couldn't find chalk anywhere so we used it this morning for the 2nd day of 5th grade.

She was rushing and wouldn't let me take the photo outside because there were kids already at the bus stop and she COULD NOT BE SEEN TAKING A PICTURE. OMG! SHE WOULD JUST DIE OF EMBARRASSMENT! Wearing a black poka dot scarf with purple plaid shorts and a Justin Beiber shirt is totally cool though!

Welcome to the tween world!

First day of school disaster: Coco was making microwave mac n cheese after school yesterday and forgot to put the water in the bowl. Our house still smells like burnt noodles. The Lampe Berger is supposed to remove smells in your home and it isn't even touching this. If you have any ideas please pass them my way.

Looking forward to a low key weekend.

Recent converstation with Coco

Coco- Mom do you believe in gazebos?

Me- a gazebo like in Katies yard, a wooden structure?

Coco- no like when you take a sugar pill instead of the real thing.

Me - Oh you mean a placebo

Coco yea I guess thats it. Do you believe in them.

Me- Yea I suppose I have never taken anything like that

Coco- It's kind of like when mom's kiss your booboo's, it really doesn't help but you believe so it does.

Me - Yea kinda like that. Where did you hear about this?

Coco- TV

Of course we learn many things from tv!!!

I love these conversations with her. Even at 10 she is still learning. Precious memories!!!! I hope she always believes that momma's kisses will cure all!

PEEK AT OUR WEEK

We have been busy working on our Summer list this week. We also took full advantage of my last week of unemployment.

Monday Coco had a sleepover with Megan. We went to Chuck E Cheese. Coco didn't want to ride the roller coaster simulator so I rode it with Megan first and then we convinced Coco to try it and she loved it.

Then we to the mall where they got a bear from Build a Bear.

My sisters campsite where we spent a couple of days.

Coco jumpin and spinnin off the diving board. Once she got up the nerve to jump off the diving board, that is all she wanted to do.

Friday we ran errands and both got a pedicure. Coco also got a color change on nails. This was her first pedi, it was funny to see her giggle when they tickled her feet.

Saturday we drove thru a carwash to benefit the Benton County Allstars baseball team. The boys did a good job of cleaning the car.

This was a great week and I am excited to begin my new job on Monday. We also have Girl Scout Camp next week and softball tournaments in the evenings. It will be a full busy week.

A GOOD DAY

I don't think I mentioned it on here but I took Coco to the Dentist for a checkup on Monday of this week. She has had her braces and quad helix on for 1 year and it was time to take out the quad and get a mold for a retainer. She freaked out! She wouldn't open her mouth, screamed if they tried to touch her mouth. I even had to call her Daddy to come help me with her. After a hour and a half we finally got it done. I felt like we had been through a war or something and I was so upset with her because this is just not like her. It was a combination of not enough sleep the night before, a lose tooth that she was afraid they were going to touch, being 9 yrs old with hormones going up and down .

Luckily the staff at Dr. Rhodes offices are God sent. Miss Crystal was able to get the retainer done locally and called us to come in today for the removal of her braces and fit for the retainer. Coco and I had some long talks the last 2 days on what was going to happen when she went back. She assured me that she would comply with the dentist and if she did, we would go do something fun afterwards.

Notice the bear in her arms? This is BEARY, I bought this bear for her about 3 or 4 years ago for $5 at Lifeway. She has slept with this bear ever since and it is her comfort. She brought it with her today for strength. The poor thing has no neck anymore.

She chose Chucke Cheese for her treat. I ate a salad while she played the games.

She is not liking her retainer but she will get used to it just like the braces.

We also went to my favorite place TJ MAXX. I bought a really pretty blue plate for a plate wall arrangement I want to begin and Coco got a new swimsuit. I just heard on the news that it is supposed to snow here on Saturday so she won't need it for awhile I guess.

Glad to be done with the braces and the drama!

SHE CAN SEE

My baby got her glasses today. She was so excited to get them. They are only for reading and computer work for now. The doctor thinks that as her eyes continue to grow they will adjust with the glasses faster.

She looks so smart and studious! I think all kids wanted glasses and braces when I was growing up.

Coco is really proud of them and can't wait to go to school tomorrow.

She picked out the cutest little plaid frames. They are adorable and I hope they help her get that reading grade up. No more excuses!

CRYSTAL BRIDGES

Saturday afternoon Coco and I ventured out to go to the crafty cottage. It didn't open until 3pm so we decided to kill some time. We went to Chick Fil A for lunch and then stopped in to the new museum in Bentonville. It is currently housed in the old library building while they construct the actual museum site.

The exhibit currently showing is Heroes in Horticulture. I was not so impressed with that but they did have a interactive childrens section that we enjoyed.

The sweetest lady was working at the Massey and told us how to get to the site where they are building. She warned us that it is a 1/4 mile to the overlook.

Even in the cold we bundled up and took off down the trail. It was such a gray day that Coco was a little leary of us being out on this trail all alone. It is in the middle of town with houses all around but still kinda creepy on a cloudy gray day.

We had to cross this beautiful bridge, made to look old.

We didn't make it to the overlook but here you can see through the trees, the construction site.

She wanted to turn around before we made it to the overlook so we did and then we met 4 different runners on the way back. I can't wait to go back in the spring to use the trail for a photoshoot of Coco. It is going to be amazing once it is finished. They are going to have some famous artifacts and art.

Coco also joined the Crystal Kids Club. She got a journal and for each exhibit there will be pages she can add. All for free!

Coco couldn't understand why it would be free admission. It probably won't be once the official site is open.

We didn't get near the snow that they expected or if we did it melted once it hit the ground. I am very glad but the temps have dropped and it is still snowing/sleeting here. The roads might be nasty tomorrow.

I am reading the The Friday Night Knitting Club right now so I am going to go read for awhile before going to sleep.

MORE VALENTINE DECOR

This is a horrible photo but it is a hershey's kiss wrapped in tulle with a bow. I have to get a couple more to put under my cloche

Tulle wreath I started at Halloween and finished. I added some red tulle for Valentine

Two of my LOVE items. The one on the right is so adorable. The picture doesn't do it justice with the red jems.

Our wedding invitation in a frame that we received for a wedding gift. I bring it out each Valentine season.

A project I have wanted to do for a long time. I used my Cricut and made it from vinyl.

I also cleaned up the craft room so that I can actually use my table for crafting. I put all my unfinished projects into 1 bin so that I can hopefully take out 1 at a time and finish it. I even worked on my December Daily Christmas album that is now December Christmas album.

Back to the working world tomorrow. On Friday when I took Coco to school she got in the car and said "I wish you could get layed off from school" LOL she doesn't like getting up in the morning when me or Daddy have the day off.

I COULDN'T WAIT TO SHOW YOU THESE

I made these Santa's tonight.

They are laying down drying so the picture is awful.

My recipe:

styrofoam cones

red velvet (i bought 1/2 yard and will have leftovers after the 3rd cone)

Hair stuff from doll aisle at hob lob

black vinyl (i bought 1/2 yard but 1/8 would be enough for 3)

38 piece pack of jewels from jewelry aisle (will need more for #3)

Aileens tacky glue

1.I rolled the cone on the fabric and cut (sloppy) & glued it down

2.I pinned and glued the white stuff on

3.for the top i rolled it around my finger a couple of times to make it fuller

used glue and pins

4. i cut the vinyl for belt free hand and glued it around the velvet

5. glue the jems on in the shape of a belt buckle.

These were $20+ each at one store in town, estimate $22 -24 dollars for all 3 of mine. Not to shabby if I say so myself!

I will post a picture of all 3 when I get another cone, so you can see how beautiful the red velvet is.

We are supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow night. This will be the first white Christmas in years. I just hope we aren't stuck at home eating ham sandwiches.

Coco just ran in and asked where our Santa plate is.

I told her oh we don't have any cookies.

She said "we have cookie dough"

I said "you want to leave him cookie dough?"

She said "yes"

Santa says "I don't like cookie dough"

We might have to buy some cookies already made tomorrow.

Maybe I will ask Santa to do that while I am work

FORECLOSURE

Today I went into Coco's room and she said

Look Mom they had a foreclosure

And now they live in a block house.

Guessing she hears to many mortgage stories from her banker Mom!

AUTUMN IN NORTWEST ARKANSAS

First I want to say Happy Birthday to Scott. Today was his birthday and poor thing spent it all sick and stuffy!

Late Saturday afternoon we went for a drive to the lake to look at all the pretty fall colors. I had also wanted to take some photos.

This is in the Prairie Creek area. Isn't it gorgeous.

Lots of deer just grazing in yards.

I love how the trees are mirrored in the water. Need to alter this one to get rid of the boat docks.

P.S. My lesson for the day, don't give AZO to a 9 year old girl without telling her what will happen. Poor child she thought all kinds of things were happening to her! I on the other hand can't stop laughing .

TOOTH FAIRYNESS

While we were at the Dentist last week, they removed the arms of Coco's braces because 5 of her teeth are loose. And one on the bottom has been loose for awhile. Yesterday morning as she was chomping on her toast, the bottom one came out.

We didn't think anymore about it until bedtime and she wanted to put her tooth in her pillow. I have no cash and Scott has only 20's, so whats a Mommy to do.

This the clock in my car and it is 11:10 PM not AM.

Go to the store for change. The lady was quite nice about it and I didn't even have to purchase anything.

Back at home I crept into her room to get a picture of her pillow. The flash was to bright against the white door so I had to take it without. Reason for the dark picture. I don't even remember where I found this pillow. I know I had way before we even thought about loosing teeth.

This little star on the back is where she puts her teeth and the toothfairy comes along and replaces it with cash!

In the past she has gotten $5 per tooth ( I know but she is my only one), but I had told her with the economy she might not get that much next time. She agreed that it only made sense with the downturn economy. Anyway the little stinker got $3 and was proud to get it.

That leads me to a kind of gross question. What do you do with your kids teeth when the fall out???

Do you keep them?

I will admit that I have every single one of hers in a little box in the bottom of my jewelry box. Is that gross? I don't know why I keep them or what we will ever do with them but I keep them.
