I am addicted to Pinterest projects. I have found so many things I love, want to make, feel good inspiration, etc.
My latest find comes from the blog Decor to Adore. She has a lovely blog and is creative. She took this lamp from Anthropolgie and made it herself.

I fell in love with it and told her I had to steal her idea.

Saturday my sister and I went south to Fort Smith to shop at some new flea markets. I found this lamp at a market in Alma. I even got it for $3.50! Can't beat a deal like that.

Here is the after

I bought a plain shade at Walmart. Found the felt flowers already cut at Hobby Lobby. The flowers are yellow, orange and turquoise. I used yellow thread to make a little stitch in the middle of each one. I cut the leaves free hand and bought a brownish greenish yarn for the stem.

I painted the base a aqua blue that I already had.

I love it.

Now to clean off a table to put it on

MY CHRISTMAS PLANNER

This is a Christmas planner that I made after Thanksgiving dinner with my Mom and Sister.
It is made from a school pocket folder (no brads).

Sorry I didn't take photos from the beginning, but you can find lots of videos on You Tube.

We started with a black pocket folder and added scrapbooking supplies to dress it up.

These are the first 2 pockets.

Pocket 1 has calendar pages with space to make to do lists.

Pocket 2 has menu pages for all your dinners and lunches for the holiday season.

Pocket 3 has gift list pages.

Pocket 4 is for coupons and receipts.

It fits perfect in my purse. I usually carry a bigger bag so it fits nicely for me.

I have to give kudos to my sister Tammy Lou. She found the idea and brought us the folders. Some people make them out of file folders but I like this better and it was much easier.
I have really been using it too as you can see from my lists and coupons showing.

CRAFTING INTO FALL

A random Friday vacation day from work.

I wasted most of it sleeping in and cruising the web!!

I did get a couple of crafts completed

I started with this black frame I already had.

Once I went back to link this I saw that she used a green background.

I glued mine right to the glass because my glass would not come

out of the frame. I will probably go back and put some green paper in the frame.

It is supposed to be in the low 70's here in Arkansas. Which might mean a new adventure instead of working at home.

WEEKEND REVIEW

I have had a productive weekend.

I FINALLY started refinishing the furniture I bought for Coco's room.

OUR SUMMER TIME LIST

I have to begin with the apology. I found this idea on a blog and now I can't find it in my bookmarks. I should use pinterest, huh?

Anyhoo, on to our list. Last year we made a list on paper and put it on the fridge. We did a little better this year.

We started with a Hobby Lobby Frame 1/2 off.

Coco chose green gingham scrapbook paper for the background. I had the other green paper and pink letter stickers.

She made her list with a dry erase marker. It was a family affair making the list. Dad and I got to include a few things we want to do.

Loving our list. This might just stay up all year to make lists for each season. Good reminder of taking the time to have fun as a family.

MOTHERS DAY GIFT IDEA

I took a $1 dictionary covered it with scrapbook paper.

Made a label on the computer

I used double sided tape for both.

Then go through the book with a highlighter and mark all the words that describe your Mother.

TIP: use a bible highlighter they don't bleed through as bad.

I was looking for a gift for a friend that was turning "50" and my sister told me to make her a dictionary like I did for Tammy when she turned 40. I was like What are you talking about?

Apparently I made my sister a book like this 3 years ago but I can't remember it.

I got the gist of it and went home that night and made it for my friend and titled it 50 Things That Make You Fabulous.

She loved it.
She sent me a text today telling me that she took it to work to show it off and her coworkers were going to make them for Mothers Day.

The one above is actually for a Girl Scout Mom. We made them in a troop meeting to give out at our Mother/Daughter Dinner on Friday.

I can't wait to see what words Coco chose for me.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY

OR SINGLES AWARENESS DAY ( i saw this on a friends facebook comments) I remember so many Valentines days that I spent as a single girl. Thank goodness it never bothered me. I loved my alone time as a single girl. I lived out on my own for 11 years before Scott and I married so it was a culture SHOCK after we married.

Now I wouldn't have it any other way. This has been a great day.

My gift from Scott that was waiting on me when I got home. I told him not to do anything and we planned on cooking dinner at home together tonight, just a simple home cooked meal together.

We were both exhausted so I went to get Subway sandwiches.

I was so happy with the way they turned out.

She said some kids didn't want the photo. How mean is that?

Parents please teach your kids some manners and how NOT to hurt someones feelings.

JUST LIKE RIDING A BIKE

I have been busy planning my Girl Scout year. I have so many ideas and plans for our troop this year. One of the things I wanted to teach them is how to crochet. I remember my Mom teaching me when I was a girl but I wasn't sure if I could still do it. I bought a skeen (I even remember the term) of yarn and a needle at my FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD Hobby Lobby. I got it out not really sure I knew what I was doing but within a hour or so last night I was in a groove. I should have taken a photo of the first attempt. It was turning out more in a round shape and I wanted it to be straight to make a scarf. I cut off that piece and googled stiches (i can't not spell this word to save my life)! I found a site that had photos of each step from making the first slip knot to chain stitches and so on and so forth. I JUST REALLY WANTED TO SAY THAT. 

Anyways, I used the photos to make my slip knot and then it just fell into THIS!!!

This is the beginning of a scarf. It really is kind of like riding a bike once you learn how you don't really ever forget. AND THAT IS WHAT I WANT TO TEACH MY GIRL SCOUTS!

I want them to tell their children that they learned this skill from being a Girl Scout!

Coco said I am officially old now that I am sitting around crocheting!

Maybe we'll go for a walk instead!

CRAFTY FUN AND A FREE CLASS

One of my favorite stores for gifts, inspiration and scrapbooking supplies Signed Sealed and Delivered had a couple of FREE workshops in January. The first one was a Valentine theme. I didn't take any photos.

The second one was birthday party theme. Below are some of the photos. I learned so much in just a short hour lunch break.

If you have been into the store you have seen these big humongous bows on the backs of chairs. She taught us how to make them from scratch. This was the first layer. Just tying the big netting on to the chair.

Then she used the tails from the first section to tie on bows bows and more bows. Isn't it beautiful for a party to tie one on the birthday girls chair or even on all your chairs. That could get expensive since 1 roll of this is $14.99 but you can get some colors at OOPS and Ato Z in Alma.

She then started on the tablescape. I love this colorful wrapping paper but it is like 13.99 a yard so it would have to be a very important party. It looks so good though.

She kept layering and layering. Starting with something tall and working down to the table so that your eye travels downward instead of all over the place. She was setting this up for the shop so you wouldn't normally put a ton of stuff on the table like this.

See the little dog, that is a invitation and she says she usually puts the invitation on the table as decoration since you probably spent time and money making them.

This is the place setting. She started with scrapbook paper that she had trimmed with the scalloped edges. Again layering.

I loved this iron piece of cake. They have lots of metal decor that is soooooo cute!

This is a treat bag she made up. The bottom is a bucket that she found after Christmas. She kept telling us to shop the after season sales with a open mind because so many things can be used in other seasons. Like these buckets or red items from Christmas can be used for Valentines. It was a lot of fun and they did the class for free.

FOR YOUR ACHY BONES

Snow day means craft day!

I am making rice bags for heating or freezing to put on your achy spots. I needed one of these for a migrane this morning. I made the bag with linen colored cotton fabric. Filled with plain white rice that I enfused with peppermint oil. I put the rice in a bowl and put several drops of peppermint essential oil. I let that sit for a couple of days.

Then I made pillowcases to put the rice bag in. If it gets dirty you can wash the case. These are smaller for use on a small owie, headache or you can freeze, put over your tired eyes!

I am also going to make some larger ones for big owies! Waiting on my rice to infuse! I am going to make some up for little gifts or to take to someone that is sick.

I am stuck waiting for more rice to infuse. Note to self infuse rice in large quanities!

Now Coco has taken over my sewing machine practicing.

I will have to find something else to work on!

MORE VALENTINE DECOR

This is a horrible photo but it is a hershey's kiss wrapped in tulle with a bow. I have to get a couple more to put under my cloche

Two of my LOVE items. The one on the right is so adorable. The picture doesn't do it justice with the red jems.

Our wedding invitation in a frame that we received for a wedding gift. I bring it out each Valentine season.

A project I have wanted to do for a long time. I used my Cricut and made it from vinyl.

I also cleaned up the craft room so that I can actually use my table for crafting. I put all my unfinished projects into 1 bin so that I can hopefully take out 1 at a time and finish it. I even worked on my December Daily Christmas album that is now December Christmas album.

Back to the working world tomorrow. On Friday when I took Coco to school she got in the car and said "I wish you could get layed off from school" LOL she doesn't like getting up in the morning when me or Daddy have the day off.

I COULDN'T WAIT TO SHOW YOU THESE

I made these Santa's tonight.

They are laying down drying so the picture is awful.

My recipe:

styrofoam cones

red velvet (i bought 1/2 yard and will have leftovers after the 3rd cone)

Hair stuff from doll aisle at hob lob

black vinyl (i bought 1/2 yard but 1/8 would be enough for 3)

38 piece pack of jewels from jewelry aisle (will need more for #3)

Aileens tacky glue

1.I rolled the cone on the fabric and cut (sloppy) & glued it down

2.I pinned and glued the white stuff on

3.for the top i rolled it around my finger a couple of times to make it fuller

used glue and pins

4. i cut the vinyl for belt free hand and glued it around the velvet

5. glue the jems on in the shape of a belt buckle.

These were $20+ each at one store in town, estimate $22 -24 dollars for all 3 of mine. Not to shabby if I say so myself!

I will post a picture of all 3 when I get another cone, so you can see how beautiful the red velvet is.

We are supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow tomorrow night. This will be the first white Christmas in years. I just hope we aren't stuck at home eating ham sandwiches.

Coco just ran in and asked where our Santa plate is.

I told her oh we don't have any cookies.

She said "we have cookie dough"

I said "you want to leave him cookie dough?"

She said "yes"

Santa says "I don't like cookie dough"

We might have to buy some cookies already made tomorrow.

Maybe I will ask Santa to do that while I am work

JUMPED ON THE WAGON

I have seen many posts about these ornament wreaths. I took myself to Walmart and bought a 50 pack of shatterproof ornaments and waaaa lah

i have a new wreath.

Now where am I going to hang it???? Maybe every door in the house will be decked out! Super easy just take a wire clothes hanger, bend it into a circle shape, unwind at the top ( i put on oven mits to bend and shape), thread your ornaments and wind it back together (might need hubby for this step), tie a pretty ribbon at the top and you have yourself a Merry little wreath!

Cost for this $15.00 for the box of 50 ornaments!

WALMART AND A GIVEAWAY

Have you been through the craft department in Walmart lately? Our local Walmarts have all taken their fabrics and lots of the crafts out of the stores. I went through it tonight after work and look what I found.

Sewing kits for aprons. I didn't look close enough to see if the patterns were included but it appears that they are.
