GIRL SCOUT CAMP PART 1

Last weekend I took the troop to Girl Scout Camp.
We had so much fun. The girls thought they had to work to much. They are treated so BAD :(
They had to gather the wood, help cook, and clean up after themselves.
Just horrible!

We had a picnic lunch when we arrived.

Go on a nature hike

Getting the whistle blowing out of their systems. The whistle's are for emergency only.

Too cool for school!
In this photo, Hipper, Skipper, Snoopy, Fred, Bubbles, May May and George.
We all chose camp names. I was named Preacher. Fitting since it always seems I am preaching to the choir when with these girls.

Learning the GS dishwashing technique.

I was so proud of our first fire! I talked to Scott and was bragging that I made my first fire and he made fun of me by asking if we had to rub 2 sticks together. No we used a firestarter (piece of taper candle wrapped in wax paper). The girls were whining the smoke was to much for them. Our little troop might be more accepting of hotels and fireplaces.

Dunk bags with our eating utensils. We learned knots so we could hang our clothesline.
I was exhausted on Sunday but we had a really fun trip and the girls learned lots of outdoor skills.
There is still more to share so I will do another post soon.

HOME SWEET HOME

Whew it is good to be home. Coco and I met my sister and her family in Ozark Arkansas for a couple of days of camping. They have been there all week on the Arkansas River. We had a wonderful time. Coco did not want to come home today. We spent Wednesday afternoon at the city pool and my sun allergy rared its ugly head which made me very uncomfortable and itchy. I have been researching this all evening. I have diagnosed myself with polymorphous light eruption. My skin is photosensitive and I develop a rash on my shoulders, upper arms and chest. This only happens in the summer and it seems to be getting worse as I get older. The treatment???? More sun in small incriments after the rash clears up with some corticosteroid cream. I am going to try to get in to see a dermatologist tomorrow.

Do you know someone with this problem??? What do they do???

Anyhoo, we had a good time. My sister has a really nice RV with air conditioning so sleeping was very cool. I slept with the kids in the bunk room. Above each bed is a light so I was able to read before going to sleep which I love to do. It had all the comforts of home and made me want one even worse than I did. We roasted hotdogs last night over a fire, there is nothing better than a hotdog over a fire at camp. We did lots of visiting, playing washers, kids rode their bikes all over and played in the mud puddles after a short rain last night.  This morning we went to Clarksville to eat breakfast and do a little shopping. We had to be back by noon for lunch with Tammy's inlaws that were also camping. We had barbque beef, coleslaw, fried potatoes, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. It was a great meal. Kudos to the cooks. After lunch Tammy and Michael took all the kids back to the pool while I took a nap and got my truck packed to come home.

Coco was very upset with me because I wanted to come home. She was pretty hateful and snotty to me. I finally told her to not talk to me anymore and I turned up the radio. She fell asleep until we got to Fayetteville. When she woke up she apologized for the way she acted, told me she overreacted (her words) because she was tired, hot and cranky. It was worth the little spat we had to hear her tell me she overreacted!!! Love it.

I am glad to be home. Tomorrow is my last official week day of unemployment. I start my new job on Monday. I am going shopping tomorrow to hopefully find a few things to wear to work. I will miss my sleeping in and freedom of having all day to do what I want but I look forward to the structure of having a daily schedule. I think I can get more done when I have a schedule. We will also be celebrating Father's Day with Scott and his dad this weekend. My Father is in Heaven celebrating with Jesus but we miss him and wish he were here to see how wonderful his son in laws are as Fathers. Tammy and I are very blessed with wonderful husbands that are great Fathers. I could go on and on about both my husband and my bro in law! Great Daddys and husbands.

I will post photos from our camping adventure later. Hope you all have had a great week.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME

I SURVIVED THE CAMPOUT!

As a Girl Scout event we went to the Arkansas Naturals baseball game and then camped out on the outfield last night. The game was fun except for the watching out for foul balls. I don't know why but that terrified me! I guess because the only time I played baseball I got hit in the nose and I have never forgotten watching that ball come straight at my face. Don't ask me why I didn' t move, I just didn't!!!

Anyway the park was cool and they did a lot of fun things with the fans. This first photo is us down by the field for a spelling bee contest. They stopped me and asked if my family would do it but by the time we got down there the first family they asked had shown up. I guess we were a back up.

This is STRIKE! he is the coolest mascot ever. He was great with the kids. Coco and Courtney with him. And the dreaded foam finger she talked me into buying. I spent the rest of the night dealing with the STUPID thing! I told her I was going to give it away if she asked me to pull her finger one more time, then a kid behind me started swinging his over my head and over my shoulder!

Here is our tent. My thought when I bought the 5ft x 6ft tent, was that it would be just big enough for Coco and I, small enough to carry from the parking lot to the field, small enough to put up easily. Well 5x6 is when it is laid out on the ground without the poles! Oh my Coco's play tent is bigger than this thing! This is a couple of the mom's checking out our digs! It was the most horrible night I have ever had trying to sleep.

To begin with the game didn't end until 10:30pm and so by the time we all got set up and watching the movie it was 12am! I had to sleep from corner to corner and still couldn't stretch out. The inside walls were wet this morning so we were freezing and my whole body was aching from the hard ground. I was up at 5:30am and by 6:15 we were leaving. Some of the others weren't even out of their tents so I hope no one is mad at me but I was so ready to get out of there.

Here is a photo of the field with all the tents. Looks like a tent city in California. Thank you Lord for my home and my king size bed with 500 count sheets. I have never been more excited to come home before!!!!

Here is what the girls were doing at midnight! Running , rolling, jumping, flipping around on the field! I think they all slept hard even though they were freezing! This is Coco standing on her head!

Since we were in Springdale I had told mom that we might come by for breakfast after we left the park. We called her at 6:30 to tell her we were on our way. She made us biscuits and gravy, eggs, hashbrowns and bacon! MY MOM ROCKS!!!!!

Coco ended up falling asleep there while Mom and I visited so I had to wake her up to come home. We got to our house about 9:30 and I went straight to bed and slept til 12:30 when Scott came home from church with lunch ! Coco and I slept again after lunch until about 4. I probably will be up all night now! Scott and I worked on the yard and weeded my squash garden this evening and now my yard looks all green and clean! It is supposed to be nice weather all week so I hope to get some powerwashing done!

Blessings,

Pam

I NEED A WIFE OR A NANNY

I have been such a slacker on blogging. Sorry to my faithful readers! I am surfing your blogs and I apologize for not commenting. I have been working til after 6pm most nights and then of course my fam needs clean clothes and dishes so that comes first! You will notice I didn't say food, Thank goodness for neighbors and fast food! We have eaten with our neighbors 3 times in the past 2 weeks. I need to cook for them, soon!

Today is jam packed with stuff! Thankfully some of it is cancelled!

Coco was supposed to play in a softball tournament today from 9:30 to ???! All parks are closed due to weather, but the commissioner is out on the fields making a decision as to if we might play later today. Please let them say no! I want to stay home this morning and blog with a little cleaning thrown in here and there. Don't you love that photo, I found it on Flickr. Thanks firefighter man with a camera!
We have fittings for Cheer this afternoon. How do parents with more than 1 child fit all this stuff in??? God knew what he was doing when he gave me only 1, I couldn't handle more!

This evening our Girl Scout troop is camping with the Naturals minor league baseball team. Well, I don't think the team is camping but we will set our tents up on the outfield of the ballpark. It is supposed to be a low of 42 degrees in the morning. I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THAT!!! This gets me out of a real campout with making fires and woodland creatures so I can tough it out for one night. I might be sleeping most of the day Sunday if I can get up. I am worried about how sleeping on the hard ground is going to affect me. I know WIMPY WIMPY WIMPY!
I am off to call the scouts to set up meeting time, I know the other mothers are just as excited as I am.
Happy camping to all of you today! Stay dry!
Blessings,
Pam
